At IGAS 2015 in Tokyo we caught up with Yuzuru Ichimasa, president and representative director of RMGT, and Keiji Katayama, vice president of sales and service and member of the board of RMGT. Referring to the merger of Ryobi and MHI (Mitsubishi’s commercial offset press division), Ichimasa said, “Our merger has been very successful with sales, profit and efficiency increasing. The result for the last financial year from April 2014 to March 2015 was better than planned and showed a cash profit.” He added that some part of the success was also due to the favourable rate of the Japanese yen against the US$.
Keiji Katayama explained one of the main causes of success in the merger, “The essential part of our success is the efficiency in integration and especially in that of the human resources. ”Speaking about the Indian market where RMGT has been enjoying great success with its 36-inch press Ichimasa was full of praise for the company’s Indian distributor, “Provin Technos’ existence is very important for us in India. We find them extremely proactive in the market.”
The RMGT stand was full of value added solutions which was a feature of the IGAS show. On its RMGT10, a 41-inchpresswithbothinterdeck and end of press LED curing, special textured and gloss coatings was demonstrated and some very interesting solutions of printing on plastic surfaces for thermoforming were also shown. Inspite of its new A1 press being very flexible, in India the company still faces considerable challenges from carton printers. RMGT also showed its new 37- inch press at IGAS in a 5-color plus coater LED curing configuration.
