At the K 2022 show, Reifenhäuser Germany launched the Evo Fusion, which was set to be a game changer for the extrusion industry. At the PlastIndia show in New Delhi, Reifenhäuser India participated with its 10 principals – IMS Technologies, Italy, for BOPET and BOPP lines; Coperion & Herbold, Germany, for washing lines for PET bottles and scrap waste; NCR, Austria, for recycling; Kroenert, Germany, for metalizing and coating; Mixaco, Germany, for mixing; Buss, Switzerland, for compounding; Bühler, Germany, for metalizing and coating; Comexi, Spain, for slitters, laminators, CI Flexo and CI Offset; and Pelican India for slitters.

Jinali Mehta, head, Operations at Reifenhäuser India, told Packaging South Asia, “Each of our principals put up the best of their technology that they believe is moving towards sustainability, and which is talking about higher productivity and efficiency, lean management and less manpower. The focus is on putting less and getting more.”

Most visitors went to the Reifenhäuser and NCR stands, she said. “Each of our principals has a strength of their own. They are, however, all working towards alternative structures and sustainability. All our suppliers have had a good share of visitors – both in volume and quality. We have been able to get our target audience at the right place at the right time.”

According to Mehta, the industry needs an easier workflow, lean management, shorter runs and recycling for the same or similar applications in the packaging industry. “PlastIndia needs to be an eyeopener for the industry that there is no replacement for plastic, it just has to be managed better. As a fraternity, we are all finding solutions to collecting, recycling and managing plastics. The laws are becoming more stringent and support biodegradability and sustainability,” she said.

Manish Mehta, managing director – Reifenhäuser India, added, “The PlastIndia exhibition has an excellent infrastructure. The quality of visitors and the quality of inquiries were  genuine. The order booking was excellent. We are very happy and satisfied. Our product range and innovations have been really appreciated by the customers. They were looking for options for the challenge thrown by recyclability and circular economy. From hardware to software, we have excellent solutions for everything.”
