Spain’s Mespack, a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging solutions, demonstrated its latest innovations at Interpack 2023, which was recently held in Düsseldorf, Germany. Mespack’s offerings include horizontal (roll-stock, pre-made, and hybrid) and vertical equipment for producing various packaging types such as sachets, stick packs, stand-up pouches, water-soluble pods, film-based packaging, and end-of-line solutions.

On 5 May, the company invited the press to its booth to witness the machines in action. Packaging South Asia was present at the booth to see the machines running and know about the technology.

The company presented two new models featuring Hydroforma technology at Interpack. The first model, Hydroforma 660 FB, is a completely new addition to Mespack’s portfolio. It is a water-soluble pods equipment designed for high production rates. The machine can produce between 7 and 20 lines of pods and achieve speeds of up to 2,000 PPM. It offers flexibility in pod formats, color combinations, and the use of various fillings, such as powder or liquid. The Hydroforma 660 FB is available with up to five cavities.

The second addition is the Hydroforma 660 DS, another high-speed solution for producing water-soluble pods. With its double-shot capability, the machine can produce up to 1,400 PPM (liquids) and 2,400 PPM (powders). It features a changeover time of less than 90 minutes and reduces the footprint. This machine is suited for increasing production in a shorter timeframe with less waste.

New carrousel system solution

Another technology showcased at Interpack was the HMRSC Series, a new carrousel system solution that offers increased productivity and quick changeover in just five minutes. The transfer between the infeed conveyor and machine enables a production speed increase of up to 30%.

This series expands the range of horizontal pre-made solutions and can operate intermittently or continuously depending on the product. It is compatible with various product types, including liquids, powders, granules, and solids.

End-of-the-line solutions

Mespack also offers integrated solutions for end-of-line production requirements. Its end-of-line solutions can accommodate various secondary packaging formats for cans, bottles, capsules, solid products, and flexible packaging.

The MCP series, for example, is a new picking equipment for secondary packaging that provides turnkey projects for the RSC market. It is equipped with devices such as delta robots and servos. The MCP family expands the range of secondary packaging solutions, offering a complete range for the end of the line.

Solutions for the pharmaceutical industry

Mespack has collaborated with Famartec to offer an integrated solution for the pharmaceutical market. At Interpack, Mespack introduced the MSPH series, a vertical form-fill-seal machine exclusively developed for pharmaceutical products. It is integrated with Famartec’s cartoning machine to produce stick packs and insert them into cartons. The MSPH series is capable of producing up to 840 sticks per minute and complies with specific regulations such as GMP, GAMP5, FDA, and 21 CFR.
