Established in 1990, NBG Printographic Machinery is a 32-year-old company that manufactures packaging machines. The company – which started by manufacturing sheetfed and web offset printing machines – promoted its packaging machines at the PackPlus exhibition in New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan from 10 – 12 August.
NBG ventured into packaging in 2004 with corrugation solutions and flute laminators. It now deals in paper bags and rigid box-making machines along with flexographic printing machines. The family-owned company has five factories in Faridabad, which it plans to consolidate into one big unit by the year-end.
The company supplies its machines across the country based on product and industry requirements. Rigid boxes are focused on the mobile segment, with a lot of installations in Noida in Delhi-NCR and Sri City near Chennai.
The rigid box-making machines find takers in all cities as their major clients are supplying to sweet makers. The company has also installed a lot of paper bag-making machines near the ports, said Kishore Kumar PS, GM marketing – labels, narrow web, and packaging, NBG adding the installations have a lot to do with customer requirements.
“We recently started manufacturing narrow web flexo machines. Two out of five machines are exported while three are installed in India,” Kumar told Packaging South Asia. “We are a trading division with a capacity of 500 machines a month. It may include flexo, narrow web flexo, web offsets, slitter rewinders, and sheet cutters. We install 2-3 rigid box-making machines in a month, on average.”
The packaging industry in India is growing and there is a need to adapt as per the industry’s requirements, Kumar added. NBG, as a company, is always on the lookout for new ideas to understand what kind of packaging will dominate the industry in the next couple of years. “When NBG started rigid box-making machines in 2011, nobody was professionally handling the product. We had over 250-300 installations with top rigid box manufacturers. Similarly, we started paper bag-making machines in 2017, and by 2018-19, we were market leaders in the segment,” he said.
