Huntsman representatives distribute surgical gloves, 3-ply masks, sanitizers, face shields and PPE kits to police personnel at Mahaunge Police Station

Huntsman, the global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated chemicals, today, rolled out the second phase of its COVID-19 relief initiative in Chakan, Maharashtra. The brand continues to pledge its support for frontline warriors and migrant workers around Chakan as the novel coronavirus further spreads in the state of Maharashtra.

Under the second phase of the initiative, Huntsman provided 15,000 surgical gloves, 10,000 3-ply masks, 200 litres of alcohol-based sanitizer, 100 face shields, 50 PPE (personal protective equipment) kits and 10 touch-free, foot-controlled sanitizer dispensers to the Divisional Drug Store and Deputy Director Health Services board in Pune, Government of Maharashtra. These items were further supplied to the local public places in Bhamboli, Shelu and Akshed Gram Panchayats as well as Mahaunge Police Station and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) sub-station, Bhamboli. In addition to assisting frontline workers, Huntsman in association with Krushi Vikas Foundation and the local gram panchayat, also distributed ration kits to over 220 migrant workers and their families.

Commenting on the initiative, Ashish Badhe, site manager – Chakan, Huntsman India, said, “In this fight against the novel coronavirus, Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state in the country. As a responsible company, it is our duty to ensure the overall well-being of the communities we operate in. We hope our contribution will help protect the lives of the healthcare workers at the forefront of this battle and also fulfill the basic necessities of migrant workers. Our battle against Covid-19 will be a long one and we will continue to do our bit to support the people whose lives are on the line.”

The initiative in Chakan was part of the second phase of the COVID-19 relief initiative undertaken by the company. Prior to this, Huntsman India undertook similar relief measures in Gujarat where they distributed ration kits benefiting over 1000 migrant workers, over 500 N-95 masks and 50 PPE kits for healthcare workers in Baroda.
