Yash Pakka, a known name in the sustainable packaging industry, has been recognized as a noteworthy water-efficient unit at the National Awards for Excellence in Water Management 2022 by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The award was presented at the eighth CII Water Innovation Summit organized by CII-Triveni Water Institute and the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti.
Yash Pakka’s win was backed by its several water-saving initiatives. This includes a microplate settler (MPS) & sedicell, which makes machine backwater reusable by removing suspended fibers, thereby reducing freshwater use and effluent generation. The company has installed settlers (save-all) in its paper machines, which reuse effluents and suspended solids from water in manufacturing. With these initiatives, the Yash Pakka saves 750 million liters of water each year.
Jagdeep Hira, business head, Yash Pakka, said, “We are honored to receive this recognition. Yash Pakka is determined to make all efforts towards a cleaner planet, and saving natural resources is our primary focus. We have taken our total water consumption down from around 50 m3 per ton to 37 m3 per ton in the last four years of hard work and commitment toward the environment, which means savings of around 750 million liters annually. But we didn’t stop here, we have set a challenging target of 25 m3 per ton of water consumption by the end of FY 2023-24, and we are already on it.”
