The American narrow web press manufacturer Mark Andy has introduced a new hybrid option, the Digital Pro Plus, which builds on its existing Digital Pro platform.
As with the older platform, the digital print engine is Konica Minolta’s proven AccurioLabel 230, which is a CMYK system that uses dry toner. This is not the fastest system around but it is very cost effective for short runs and will print to most available substrates. It will run at 23 mpm and print at 1200 x 2400 dpi resolution.
For the new Digital Pro Plus platform, Mark Andy has built this print engine directly onto a flexo press chassis, using its Flexo Pro print stations. This means that it can be configured with more flexo stations than before so that customers can tailor it as needed, with the flexo stations located both before and after the digital unit. There are a number of additional add-ons to choose from including a turn bar with delam/relam, cold foil, lamination, semi-rotary die cutting, slitting, scoring, sheeting, and delivery onto a stack conveyor. It has a 330mm wide web width.
Phil Baldwin, European sales manager for Mark Andy said, “The Digital Pro 3 proved to be such a popular product we just enhanced its options to allow for more to be done in a single pass. It’s also designed to be ready to take a different engine in the future as the technology moves on so in a way it’s future proofed.”
Mark Andy has a long history of working with Konica Minolta and also uses the AccurioLabel 400 press as the basis behind its own Digital Pro Max, which offers a faster print engine complete with white toner. Mark Andy has used the same Pro series flexo stations and converting options. Consequently, the new Digital Pro Plus should be seen as a tidying up of the portfolio, giving customers a very obvious path from the Plus to the Max platforms with very little extra training needed.
The new Digital Pro Plus is available now in both the US and European markets.
