Live demo at ADKC

The FESA event was preceded by a demonstration of the in-line application of silver reverse foils through an in-line cold foiling process on the Gallus ECS 340 press on a shrink sleeve substrate at the Avery Dennison Knowledge Centre (ADKC). Narendra Kulkarni, business head, Gallus India, spoke about the unique features of the press including the less amount of raw material wastage, automated tools for precise print quality and exhibited the movable operator interface to different printing stations as well the fast changeover of cylinders possible on the press.

Moreover, visitors were taken to the prepress section in ADKC, where Naveen Serrao, manager of the ADKC, spoke about the plate making process with the help of the CDI Spark 4835. Using the laser engraving technique can provide 250 lpi (lines per inch) resolution on a digital flexo plate and the in-line UV-LED exposes the plate, which resembles a negative film. In addition, the flexo plate is exposed and dried in the Cyrel 1000ECDLF or in a 1000TDthermaldevelopertoproduce the finished plate. A classic label production workflow and live demo of in-line cold foiling was witnessed at the Avery Dennison Knowledge Centre by the label and film converters.
