On the afternoon of 11 February 2015, the MSD6 committee of the Bureau of Indian Standard shad an opportunity to meet and interact with several members of the ICC and ISO TC130 who were at Printpack for the full-day conference on color management on12 February at the show. In addition there was a half-day conference on color management with a focus on packaging and theG7 method at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Mayur Vihar in Delhi on the morning of 14 February and another half-day conference in Mumbai on the afternoon of 17 February at Sunville Banquet.

At the MSD6 meeting on 11 February held at the Printpack boardroom, AK Sinha, NS Manku and Renu Gupta welcomed the experts and said that since theMSD6has become a participatory member of the TC130 it plans to take part in its activities to develop global printing standards. They pointed out that they will develop the national standards deemed necessary as well.

Smiley, Khoury and Liwent into abit of detail about some of the working groups that they are involved in. They also welcomed Indian participation and inputs to the global print standards movement and explained some of the practical issues that the MSD6 needs to be aware of.

In the discussion that followed, Gupta raised the question of the recent vote against or downgrading of the proposed 15339 part 1 and 2. Both Smiley and Khoury explained that although a desirable standard from their point of view, it is not yet well understood in some regions and is likely to take some time for adoption.

Ashort meeting ofthe MSD6 was also held afterthe expert briefing on TC130. Overall,the range oftasks and their complexity made it clearto the MSD6 members that agreatdeal ofwork isgoingtobenecessary tomeaningfullybecome apart of andto contribute to the global standards discussion. The meeting or mini-seminar had 60 participants including industry experts in various areas and was supported by the AIFMPand IPAMA. TheAIFMP’s president Dev Nair attended as didAnand Limaye and Arvind Madekar, alternate members on behalf of the AIFMP
