Bosch, one of the leading suppliers of technology and services, has inaugurated its 14th manufacturing plant in India. The new plant is located at Bidadi, Bengaluru in the state of Karnataka and will manufacture products for the Diesel Systems division. It will be part of Bosch, the flagship company of Bosch in India. Since the groundbreaking in September 2013, around Rs 3,400 million (Rs 340 crores or approximately 45 million Euros) have been invested in the new plant at Bidadi, which has a built-up area of around 38,000 square metres.

The inauguration took place in the presence of Siddaramaiah, chief minister of Karnataka; RV Deshpande, minister for industries, government of Karnataka; Ratnaprabha, additional chief secretary –  Department of Industries, government of Karnataka; Peter Tyroller, member of board of management, Robert Bosch; and Steffen Berns, president, Bosch Group India and managing director, Bosch.

The construction of the Bidadi plant spans over two phases, with the second phase scheduled to be completed by 2018. The state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Bidadi will produce diesel products that were previously manufactured at the Adugodi plant, and would have over 2,600 associates working at the plant. Like the previous location, the new plant in Bidadi will continue to be the lead plant for the production of singe cylinder common rail pumps along with conventional fuel injection pumps. In 2015, Bosch has started the production of the common-rail fuel injection system pump in Bidadi, and by 2016-17 the production of the new version of the common rail fuel injection pump is expected.

In its new plant Bosch will apply Industry 4.0 to optimize manufacturing processes. Due to data analytics and data mining projects, it is possible to prevent disruptions to the process and thus gain additional production hours. Moreover, Bosch is a leading global provider and exponent of connected industry solutions. The company offers a broad range of solutions such as drives, automation solutions, sensors, software, and predictive maintenance.
