“Our goal of participating at Labelexpo is to demonstrate what is new as well as what has already been proven in the market. Our LongLife ceramic-coated doctor blades are some of the best proven blades of the label industry. Apart from that, we also have IboStar Plus, which is our new blade,” says Sudhir Dhotey, managing director of Daetwyler SwissTec.

The LongLife doctor blade has a hardened coating that reduces friction coefficients and extends blade life. The coating on the blade plays an important role in preventing printing defects such as toning, streaking, drag-outs, bleeding, cylinder banding and chrome wear. IboStar Plus, for flexo- and packaging-gravure printing, comes in a very good price-performance ratio, according to Dhotey.

We already have a unique position in the market worldwide, and we want to supply our coated blades to the label market in India. We are not only special in terms of coating, but also special in terms of the configuration of blades. For example, we have a special design to stop ink spitting,” says Markus Resing, deputy head of marketing and sales, Daetwyler SwissTec. “The biggest challenge for us is to chase all our customers and explain to them the advantages of using our coated blades.”

“Our aim is to inform our customers about the benefits of our coated blades and unique technology. We are also increasing our product range by 2 to 3 products every year,” says Resing. “Recently, we introduced a couple of new products for flexo, mainly for label printing.” Speaking on the Indian market, Resing says, “The Indian market is quite important for us. With the growing population in India, the packaging market is growing too. In fact, the country’s packaging market has tremendous potential.”
