Koenig & Bauer Durst is showcasing advances in digital press systems and software services for the folding carton and corrugated markets at drupa 2024 in Dusseldorf, Germany. The company’s stand (A-31-1, Hall 16) features the public debut of the VariJET 106 single-pass press, developed in collaboration with Durst and Koenig & Bauer, with regular production run demonstrations.
Visitors can take away various printed samples from the Koenig & Bauer Durst stand, including pharmaceutical applications, health and beauty products, and food and beverages. The VariJET 106 is displayed in a hybrid configuration linked to Koenig & Bauer’s acclaimed Rapida offset press technology and workflow, with multiple production runs throughout the show. The latest die-cutting and folding gluer technology is also being demonstrated live at the neighboring Koenig & Bauer booth.
Another highlight is the Delta SPC 130, used in the corrugated markets and part of Koenig & Bauer Durst’s single-pass digital sheet-fed press portfolio. A control station is set up on the stand to demonstrate how the Delta SPC 130 operates in a production environment, utilizing Durst Workflow and Durst Analytics.
Daily shows feature the Delta SPC 130 and VariJET 106 systems at 11:45 am and 2:45 pm in English. Demonstrations of folding box production with the VariJET 106 take place at 10:45 am and 4:30 pm in English and 2:00 pm in German.
Koenig & Bauer Durst is also highlighting printing on mainly brown substrates with water-based digital white ink, being the first company to offer this for corrugated substrates in primary food packaging. This innovation allows for new possibilities in packaging, such as printing on plain brown or lower-grade whiteboards.
“Visitors to our drupa stand in Hall 16 can be assured of a warm welcome. The VariJET 106 – our major digital development in folding carton markets – is now a reality. See for yourself this highly versatile machine that will be running samples regularly,” said Daniel Velema, managing director of Koenig & Bauer Durst. “Some of these have been produced in Switzerland by SCHELLING AG, one of our customer sites. We’re also showcasing game-changing industry firsts such as our breakthrough in printing on mainly brown substrates with water-based digital white for corrugated substrates in primary food packaging.”
