At drupa 2024 in May-June, manroland Goss, a provider of web offset printing and digital finishing solutions, is set to unveil a comprehensive array of groundbreaking innovations — the highlight being the Varioman press for packaging printing applications.
“Packaging solutions are our key highlights. Varioman is a real game changer in the market,” Franz Kriechbaum, CEO of manroland Goss, said at the pre-drupa media conference held in Dusseldorf from 25 — 27 March. Drupa 2024 is scheduled from 28 May to 7 June.
Wolfgang Hiesinger, senior vice-president for packaging and newspaper solutions at manroland Goss, talked in detail about Varioman and what it offers to customers. He said the technology promises lower production costs and increased productivity. With solvent-free EB curing and minimized ink consumption, it is an environment-friendly option for the industry.
“You are printing solvent-free. You can combine that with EB curing technology to avoid UV inks. You can also use expanded color gamut systems with six or seven standardized colors to avoid having to print special or Pantone colors separately,” Hiesinger said. He said its flexibility enables seamless integration of various applications and fast job changeovers without compromising on print quality.
Hiesinger said the Varioman technology can help save 20 – 40 % in flexible packaging for short to mid-long runs compared to flexo/gravure.
