In the last week of October 2021, the Emba Berg Group, headquartered in Sweden, exhibited for the first time after Covid at the IndiaCorr Expo show.  As such Emba has been a value partner for ICCMA from its inception and earlier has been a partner with FCBM since 2008. It is a 67-year-old company that develops, manufactures, and markets high-performance converting machines for the global corrugated packaging industry. The company has been producing flexo-folding gluers since 1950, and it has many technologies and innovations to showcase at its Hyderabad plant.

On the first day of the IndiaCorr ExpoPackaging South Asia visited the Emba Berg stand where we met Markus Furhoff, sales director at Emba Machinery, and Chiranjeevi Sastry, sales director, South Asia at Emba Machinery. We asked them about their experience at the IndiaCorr Expo show.

Chiranjeevi Sastry said, “This is the first sort of public appearance for us after Covid-19 and the first time we are participating at the IndiaCorr Expo. We are glad to see that the Indian market is opening up now and everything is becoming normal. Our company is the first one to conquer the Himalayas, and we are here to present our patented technologies and innovations to the visitors and also to educate them about the technologies being offered in the corrugated industry.”

Afterward, Markus Furhoff added, “The Emba Group has been producing flexo-folding gluers for many years, and today, we have machines that are durable, consistent, and can produce reliable products. So, we are doing fantastically well globally, and have reached a level where we have no such competitors who can beat the Emba Group. Undoubtedly, the world is opening up now, and the Indian market is also open for its customers, so the show must go on. We are also looking forward to launching a brand new machine.”

Emba in high demand during the pandemic

Chiranjeevi Sastry shares his take on Emba’s performance in the Indian subcontinent, “Emba is the first European in-line machine to enter India in the year 2011 and is credited with successful installations to date with all the latest technology machines in the Indian market and Nepal. Some of the machines that were purchased by the Indian market like Dual Box are first among the entire Asia and in first 10 machines manufactured in Sweden. This gives us confidence in Indian market where the investor prefers a reliable and quality product!”

When Packaging South Asia asked Chiranjeevi Sastry about the impact of the pandemic on the company’s activity, he said, “It’s true that Covid-19 has affected many companies, especially the inline box manufacturers like us. Though the market has been affected and suffered a lot, the packaging industry is on a positive side in pharmaceuticals, confectionery, and the food and beverage industries.”

“During Covid-19, everything was online, and there was a huge demand for boxes, and most of the boxes used in pharmaceuticals or the food and beverage industry were made by Emba Machinery. Thus, our company was not affected in that period – it was growing every day.”

As we asked Markus Furhoff about the Indian market and the company’s reach in India, he answered, “India has an extreme need for our machines, and a lot of customers are coming to a stage of investing in Emba machines very soon. So, we are here to guide them for the best technology and tell them how our machines are different from others.”

Chiranjeevi Sastry concluded the conversation with a message to the corrugated manufacturing industry, saying, “Instead of purchasing cheap corrugated machines, go for a durable one that can produce a reliable product. The users need to investigate and evaluate a machine before buying it.”
