At Labelexpo 2016, DIC India launched its Solarflex range of flexo inks for the Indian flexo printing market. Packaging South Asia met Raj K Sharma, general manager for flexo business and Rishi Raj Bhaskar, general manager – marketing of DIC India who discussed about this new offering for the Indian label industry.
The SolarFlex inks, according to DIC, features flow optimization for press performance, low odor for sensitive applications, fast curing for higher press speeds, and a color strength that has been increased for finer anilox choices. The company claims that the inks are compliant with the strictest global regulations and formulated without any volatile organic compounds.
“Labelexpo is an ideal platform to launch these products and introduce Sun Chemicals technology to the Indian market as we believe this is a unique, costeffective and highly versatile range of solutions with a focus on performance. We have received an overwhelming response from the visitors and interested customers. This new range is targeted at the label printers in India and these inks will help reduce 50% inventory cost of a label printer,” said Rishi Raj Bhaskar. “We are targeting to capture 10% share in narrow web flexo market share in the next two to three years. Presently, we will be importing flexo printing inks but we aim to set up a manufacturing facility in the country in the future,” he said.
The packaging market is doing well at the moment and the labels segment has been performing particularly well consistently, according to Raj K Sharma. He said, “Our products are tailored to meet the requirements of the narrow web flexographic market. Our range of flexo inks has been available in many regions around the world and thus we understand the market. We may be a late entrant but that has helped us offer a range of solutions which is the best from our stable and for a label printer who wants to excel, this should help him drive the results he seeks.”
