UBM India, a leading exhibition organizer, launched the debut edition of ProPak India – a B2B platform for the packaging and processing industry – for the first time at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida.

ProPak India was co-organized with Fi India & Hi, the only B2B event in the Indian sub-continent for the food and health ingredients, due to the synergy between the two. The event brought packaging solutions pertaining to products from pharmaceutical, cosmetics, appliances, industrial systems and machinery, to its customers. The co-located expos will rotate annually between India’s two promising food hubs, i.e. Mumbai and the Delhi-NCR region.

After the completion of the show, Yogesh Mudras, managing director of UBM India said, “Research reveals that better processing and packaging techniques need to be developed not only to increase the shelf life but also improve the nutritive value of the processed food. And this is where our new ProPak India Expo comes in. Of course, processing and packaging engulfs so much more and unlike corresponding expos in the sector, ProPak India has catered to multiple sectors and will continue catering to the entire value chain and be of immense value.”

The maiden edition of the ProPak India Expo was launched in the presence of key industry dignitaries to bring a comprehensive market overview and a conglomeration of internationally renowned professionals from India and overseas.

Catering to India’s ever growing processing and packaging industries, the show is geo-located from ProPak, Asia’s largest platform in its domain, and was comprehensively tailored to Indian requirements. It was also supported by associations such as Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (I) Mumbai Chapter (AFSTI), Indian Flexible Packaging & Folding Carton Manufacturers Association (IFCA), All India Food Processors’ Association (AIFPA) and Active & Intelligent Packaging Industry Association (AIPIA).

Unlike corresponding expos in the domain, ProPak India catered to packaging and processing in multiple sectors. Accordingly, the show hosted over 100+ types of products and services in automation, testing and measurement, filing and sealing machinery, and complete production lines along with allied services.

Alongside the exhibition, ProPak India 2018 also featured 2 days of engaging and interactive conferences on extremely topical subjects. Day 1 comprised sessions on ‘The Leaders Panel – Industry 4.0’, which discussed increased involvement of Industry 4.0 in processing and packaging industries; ‘Smart Technologies in Liquid Food and Beverage Industry’ focused on smart technologies, trends and digitalization in the liquid food and beverage industry, with participation from Active and Intelligent Packaging Association, PepsiCo and ABB India, among others; ‘Plastic Waste Control and Solid Waste Management and E-commerce Packaging – The New Opportunity’.

Day 2 veered on topics such as ‘Plastics – Is the angst against the material realistic or miss-placed’; ‘Challenges & Opportunities in Packaging Design and Innovation’; ‘Women in Processing and Packaging Industry’; and ‘Novel Ideas for Start-Ups in Food Processing and Packaging Sector.’
