Pune-based packaging specialist Nichrome India showcased its latest innovation, the Nichrome Wing 120, at the Indusfood Manufacturing 2025 exhibition in Dwarka, Delhi. The newly launched vertical form fill seal (VFFS) machine is specifically designed for small stick-shaped sachets, useful for packaging products from 5 grams to 10 grams, such as tea and coffee premixes, milk powder, and blended spices.
With three verticals—packaging machines, packaging systems, and filling systems—the company provides machines for a range of food product lines, including solid, powder, grain, and liquid packaging.
The Nichrome Wing 120 is designed to provide a compact, efficient, and hygienic packaging for manufacturers looking to enhance their production capabilities in the small sachet category. Kaushal Verma, general manager – International business, Nichrome, highlighted its user-friendly design and hygienic attributes. A standout feature of the Wing 120 is its split hopper, which can be opened easily without the need for tools.
This feature enables seamless cleaning and maintenance, for food industries where hygiene is a priority. “The machine ensures proper hygiene as it allows for thorough cleaning and visual inspection. This not only enhances safety but also increases operational efficiency,” Verma explained.
The growing preference for single-use sachets has significantly influenced the packaging industry, with brands looking for machines that can provide higher speed, better efficiency, and precision. Verma emphasized the importance of having dedicated machines for small sachet production.
“The increasing consumption pattern for small sachets requires machines designed solely for this category. The Nichrome Wing 120 is the perfect solution for companies seeking a compact, hygienic, and high-speed machine with precise accuracy,” he said.
While Nichrome India already offers VFFS machines capable of handling packaging requirements from 5 grams to 250 grams, the market’s evolving demands have led to the development of machines dedicated to specific weight categories of 5 to 10 grams.
Verma explained, “With the rising demand for small single-use sachets, companies have scaled up production volumes. This requires machines that deliver accurate results at high speeds, making the process more efficient and cost-effective.”
For small sachets of established brands and volumes
The machine is primarily aimed at established brands that have successfully introduced their products in small sachet formats. The companies that are now looking to increase production volumes while maintaining accuracy and hygiene standards.
Verma cautioned that the machine may not be the best fit for startup companies due to its specialized nature and production scale requirements. “While startups might not immediately benefit from this machine, larger brands with a well-established sachet product line are adopting these machines to meet growing consumer demand,” he said.
