The PDIT Conference will be attended by designers, packaging developers and product managers of global and Indian consumer product companies in the food, FMCG and pharmaceutical sectors. Moreover, there will be influencers from the printing and packaging companies and converters, contract packaging and bottling companies, as well as premedia and design companies. The other important participants will be consumables, materials and equipment suppliers for the packaging industry. In addition to Save Food, the conference will cover themes like design, innovation, sustainability and environment, compliances, appropriate technologies, automation standardization, and packaging quality management.

The conference will have Werner Dornscheidt, president and chief executive officer of Messe Düsseldorf, as well as one of the main founders and initiators of the Save Food movement, deliver the keynote speech. Gérard Caron, a reputed French designer and co-founder of Carré Noir, the first ever French design marketing agency, will speak on design, innovation and sustainability. The other speakers of repute will be Deepak Manchanda, packaging industry veteran and rationalist, whose open letter to PM Modi questioned the success of the much vaunted cleanliness drive, and Rob Vermulen, a renowned Dutch designer who was a featured speaker at the Save Food Congress in interpack 2014.

The PDIT Conference is the first such attempt on a scale as big as this, to bring the maximum possible types of stakeholders on a single platform, to discuss and deliberate on the critical issue of sustainable packaging. One of the major objectives of the conference is to help evolve the narrative of packaging in a major economy like India with high growth, toward more sustainable practices. As in most other parts of the world, the percentage of food that is wasted in the conventional supply chain in India is very high—over one-third. The PDIT Conference will initiate innovations and interdisciplinary dialogue, apart from healthy debates to achieve solutions across the entire value chain—from farm to plate.
