Mamata
Varun Patel, director, Mamata Machinery at PlastIndia

Mamata, one of the leading manufacturers and exporters of plastic bag and pouch-making machines globally showcased their machinery at PlastIndia 2023. Since 1989 Mamata has come a long way, from being the first Indian company to introducing plastic bag-making machines with stepper motors, drive & microprocessor controllers, and without conventional clutch-brake, rack-pinion assembly.

According to Varun Patel, director, the flexible packaging / converting markets are ever-changing. Cost competitiveness while addressing change quickly without compromising quality and versatility is the key to success. “At Mamata, we have always designed systems that are fit for today’s market needs and capable of seeing the road ahead, transforming the course, and winning the hearts of our customers. Our philosophy of providing machines with improved flexibility, operator friendliness with greater productivity has given our customers a vital edge in today’s competitive market.”

Patel adds, “The exhibition has been thrilling, Mamata has been a part of PlastIndia since inception and the excitement hasn’t dialed down to this day. We are exhibiting pouch-making, bag-making, and vertical form-fill sealing machines at the plastics show and the footfall has been tremendous. What I liked most was all the feedback we received from the visitors and it will help make Mamata even better.”

On the notion of newer industries on the uprise, Patel said, “The idea of competition isn’t challenging but exciting. The plastics industry is ever-growing and very demanding, and new industries and technology that are introduced into the market make us think differently. They act as a catalyst of our growth and we as an industry are preparing for the ‘packaging of tomorrow’ so the thought of something new in the market is very entertaining. Mamata is in a process of continuous expansion both in India and the US selling machinery to almost 90 different countries.”

Mamata opened a sales and support division in the USA in 2008 and in 2012 that got revamped into an R&D facility. “We have a strong presence in the frozen foods, nuts, and snack segments in the US market with a majority of our customers being repeat customers. Mamata has also been investing heavily in recycling and sustainability with hopes that our contribution will make an impact for the better.”
