At the recently concluded PlastIndia show, Rossini promoted its newly launched Ecograv system aimed at rotogravure printing. This system was unveiled by the Italian company during K 2022.

“The Ecograv system is a revolutionary system launched by Rossini at the K show last year. You can now manufacture gravure cylinders without chrome and copper. Using this system, the cylinder engravers can replace the copper and chrome cladding with a polyurethane-based technopolymer that can be engraved electromechanically. This is an extremely sustainable solution,” Ashvin Hebbar, sales director of Rossini India.

From September 2023, the complete Ecograv system will be on display at Rossini’s Italy headquarters. Customers interested in this technology can visit and see the system in action.

Apart from promoting the Ecograv system, Rossini displayed its regular rubber rollers and sleeves at PlastIndia. It talked about the newly introduced sleeves that are 40-50% lighter than conventional ones.

Expansion at Rossini India’s Pune plant

Rossini has been present in India for more than two decades. In 2014, it took a big decision to set up a factory in Pune to manufacture mandrels, rubber rollers, and sleeves for rotogravure printing. It is among the few global companies to set up a manufacturing plant in India.

The Pune factory has equipment imported from Italy, similar to other Rossini plants in the world. The rubber compound, which is the most important factor in delivering high-quality rollers, also comes from Italy. The Pune plant now exports mandrels, rubber rollers, and sleeves for rotogravure to all of the Southeast Asian markets.

Rossini India plans to expand operations at the Pune plant and will have in-house manufacturing of steel base, which is required in rubber rollers.

“The steel base is currently outsourced from third parties in India. This year, we will start manufacturing steel bases in-house so that we will have full control over our product and cut delivery time. This will help us in manufacturing mandrels,” Hebbar said.
