At Printpack India, Sanjeev Popli, managing director of Popli Graphics, shared his perspective on the company’s achievements, innovations and the evolving flexo printing market. A key player in the offset industry and the packaging sector, the company has represented brands such as Autoprint for over 25 years, supplying over 400 machines from mini-offset presses to post-press solutions. The company also represents TechNova for plates, chemicals, and CtP solutions, Esko for flexo digital imaging, DuPont for flexo plates and Huber and DIC for inks and coatings.
Popli emphasized his company’s role as a comprehensive solutions provider. “If a customer faces an issue with coatings, we provide the right solution. Our consumables are solution-based, ensuring optimal printing results.” Recognizing the industry’s digital shift, Popli Graphics has expanded into digital printing, partnering with Canon and building a dedicated team in this area. This activity has complements Autoprint’s transition from mini-offset to digital finishing solutions, creating a synergy in the company’s sales and support portfolio.
Flexo printing – a growing market
As a flexo proponent over the past 20 years, Popli Graphics has built a strong presence in the sector. The company is the exclusive North India distributor for DuPont’s photopolymer plates and supplies Esko digital imagers and other flexo-related ancillary equipment. “We are proud that 70% of the process houses on our territory use equipment supplied by us,” Popli noted.
To support flexo printers, the company has launched an ink-blending center under Color Tone, offering water-based, UV, and LED inks in partnership with Sigma. The company represents global brands for label and flexible packaging printing including CI flexo –a comprehensive range of flexo solutions.
Technological advancements in flexo
A highlight at Printpack was Popli Graphics’ introduction of India’s first laser anilox screening machine. “This new technology, developed over the past 18 months, eliminates the need for chemicals or water and enhances flexo printing quality,” Popli stated.
Recognizing pre-press as a critical aspect in flexo printing, the company collaborated with DuPont and Esko to establish the Darshan Demo Center in Delhi’s Wazirpur Industrial Area. This facility serves as an in-house training hub rather than a showroom, providing hands-on experience for industry professionals and students.
The future of Flexo in India
Popli is optimistic about the flexo printing market. “Flexo is evolving rapidly, and the next five years will see significant growth, around 18-20% annually,” he forecasts. Nevertheless, he cautions that there are challenges, noting that printers and converters need proper guidance to manage the industry’s fast-paced expansion.
The company’s commitment to industry development, continues to play a significant role in India’s printing sector. Printpack was more than just a sales platform, for Popli Graphics. “The show is about connections. We engage with customers, understand their needs, and ensure they see value in our products. The response has been fantastic,” Popli concluded.
