At a time when environmental concerns are at the forefront of global discussions, companies such as the Hyderabad-headquartered VijayNeha, a one-stop solution for primary and secondary packaging, are looking at a greener and more sustainable future. At the recently concluded Hiplex 2023 in Hyderabad, Neha Gupta, managing director of VijayNeha, showcased the company’s products and highlighted its greenfield plant’s contribution to recyclable packaging.
Commitment to recyclability
One of the primary highlights of VijayNeha’s offerings is its focus on recyclability. Gupta emphasizes single-family packaging structures, saying these not only reduce their environmental impact but also make it easier for consumers to engage in responsible recycling practices.
Gupta also highlighted the company’s continuous effort to minimize plastic use and downsize its plastic footprint. “If you get a bottle of hand wash, it is not 100% recyclable, but if you take a sachet and refill the bottle, it reduces the plastic footprint. We at VijayNeha are adopting such concepts,” Gupta says.
The third and most significant aspect highlighted is the incorporation of PCR (post-consumer recycled) and PR (post-recycled) content. “Although PCR content is not highly used due to contamination, it can be used for outer packaging and PR content for primary packaging,” she explained.
Future prediction
Highlighting that while paper bags may appear as an eco-friendly alternative to plastic, the resources required to manufacture these are of real concern. “People talk about paper products being an alternative to plastics, but to make one lakh pieces of paper bags, you are cutting down more than crores of trees, which is not a sustainable solution,” says Gupta. “Even to make that paper bag usable for certain applications, you need to put it with plastic.”
Gupta believes the real challenge lies in the smart utilization and responsible disposal of plastic materials. “The problem isn’t necessarily the material itself but how we use and manage it,” Gupta says.
Discussing the importance of exhibitions such as Hiplex, Gupta says, “It is one of South India’s best platforms for traders, manufacturers, and brand owners to come and meet at a common point. We encountered many opportunities that were commercialized and gave us a chance to revive relations as well. Our stand emphasized our market presence.”
VijayNeha’s products include multilayer films, laminated rolls, pouches, carry bags (T-shirt bags), kirana bags, liners, garbage bags, bag on roll, polypropylene bags, LD / LLDPE bags, stretch film rolls, shrink films, and injection-molded thin wall containers.
