On August 1 2024, the IMA Group, through the newly established IMA Sarong, completed the closing for the acquisition of the Packaging Machinery and Packaging Materials divisions of Sarong, both based in Reggiolo (Reggio Emilia), Italy.

Sarong Packaging Machinery division designs, manufactures and sells automatic thermoforming Form, fill & seal (FFS) and fill & seal (FS) packaging machines for single-serve to pharmaceutical customers primarily, and home & personal care markets.

Active since 1972, Sarong Packaging Machinery division is today a world leader with almost 70% of the installed capacity for suppository machinery, thanks to its very broad product range, R&D expertise and high-quality after sales services. Over the years, it has extended the offer of FFS packaging lines by adding models for small, medium and large production, from 6,000 up to 30,000 suppositories/ovules per hour, packed with plastic films or aluminum foils, alongside with machines for unit-doses of pharmaceutical liquid or semi-liquid products.

Sarong Packaging Materials division is a world market leader in the converting and sale of suppositories/ovules film and foils. This division also operates as a converter of rigid thermoforming films for liquid and semi-liquid pharmaceutical applications.

Sarong Packaging Materials division is constantly looking at new sustainable raw materials, such as recyclable plastics, compostable resins, recycled aluminum content and PVC-free lacquers.

The acquisition of Sarong Packaging Machinery and Packaging Materials divisions, which have a combined workforce of 125 employees, enriches the portfolio of advanced packaging solutions provided by IMA Group and represents a further step of its strategy to consolidate its presence in the pharmaceutical market, the company posted on its website. Together with the IMA Safe portfolio of cartoning machines and the IMA End of Line Hub, IMA is now providing complete lines even in this sector.
