Pune’s Nichrome India used the platform of PackEx India 2016, held in Mumbai on 22–24 September, to formally launch three new packaging solutions. While two new machines are from the company’s own stable, the third is from Italy’s Tecnovac. Maxima 200/400 with servo auger, the vertical form, fill and seal machine and Multilane Stickpack with multihead servo auger are the two solutions from Nichrome’s own portfolio. From Tecnovac, Nichrome displayed the Athena automatic tray sealer. Nichrome looks after the sales and services for
Tecnovac in India, while the machine has been built in Italy.
“All the three products that we displayed at PackEx were developed in the last one year,” said Hemant Ogale, managing director, Nichrome India.

The Maxima 200 clocks a speed of 200 packs per minute (ppm) while Maxima 400 has a speed of 400 ppm. The Maxima can be used to pack powder, spices, dairy whiteners, granular products, pre-mix powders, etc. For both Maxima 200 and 400, the pack volume range is from 25 cc to 550 cc. Maximum pack size for both variants is 130 mm length and 200 mm width. “The speeds offered by Maxima are among the fastest in its category. Customers who deal in high volumes will find this solution very attractive,” said Raosaheb Rayanade, senior consultant – packaging solutions, Nichrome India.
The Multilane Stickpack helps in packing items such as milk powder, coffee powder, tea and coffee premix, etc. in center seal stickpack format. The machine offers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 lanes (depending on stick width). The capacity of the machine is 30–35 packs per lane. It handles packaging materials such as heat-sealable laminate films like polyester, metalized polyester or aluminium foil, etc. “The solution is primarily aimed at the hospitality industry, which is a very high growth area in India,” Ogale said.
Athena automatic tray sealer is capable of packaging in modified atmosphere any combination of compatible trays and top film. It is ideal for packing items such as cut vegetables, cottage cheese, sweets, fresh fruits, etc.
According to Ogale, all the three solutions have received positive feedback from the market. “Many of our existing customers have shown interest as they want to upgrade to faster machines. We hope that all the three products will be well accepted by new customers as well,” he said.
