Khushal Patel, director, sales and marketing, BST eltromat at Indiaplast 2019.

BST eltromat unveiled some new solutions for the Indian packaging industry at the Indiaplast 2019 expo that was held in Greater Noida from 28 February to 4 March. The company demonstrated for the first time in India two new products from its stable – Alphamix, an adhesive mixing and dispensing system and EagleEye, a 100% web viewing system. Both these products saw their worldwide launch at ArabPlast 2019 that was held in Dubai in January this year.

BST also displayed a solvent-less laminator from Lotus Engineering for which BST’s automation division has provided complete automation. In June 2018, BST and Italy’s Grafica Elettronica SRL announced the launch of a new vertical and a month later the two signed a joint venture agreement. With this new association BST eltromat India has now ventured into providing complete turnkey solutions in automation. BST eltromat India and Grafica will deliver fully integrated and modular automation solutions to machine manufacturers and end users across the globe to automate their various process work-flows of new and old machines (retrofit).

According to Khushal Patel of BST eltromat, the Alphamix is a unique solution for mixing and dispensing adhesives for solvent-less lamination machines. Some of the salient features of the machine include zero de-lamination during the process; line speed feedback from the solvent-less machine and display of average coating thickness in real-time; and gauging weight of adhesive component in real-time, among others.

“The Alphamix adheres to the philosophy of Industry 4.0,” says Patel.

The EagleEye is meant to view the full repeat of the web. Conventional printers use stroboscopes and moving web viewer systems, which display a particular region of repeat to inspect the print repeat manually. The EagleEye is meant to overcome the limitations of the present methods by displaying the full web width on the 55″ UHD monitor.

“The EagleEye is meant for wide web presses, both rotogravure and CI flexo. It shows the entire repeat at 7.2k resolution,” Patel says.

BST is expected to launch EagleEye with defect detection system and color monitoring system in the next six months, Patel shares.

Talking about Indiaplast, he says the show has been very good given that it was the first edition. “All the days were busy for us,” he says.
