The corrugation industry may not have been very organized or technology friendly over the years. However, in the last few years, the trend has changed. Automation has been coming in and the perception of the industry has been maturing. For Emba, the Indian market is of paramount importance. According to Chiranjeevi Sastry, sales manager – SAARC nations for Emba Machinery, Emba was the pioneer of flexo folder-gluer (FFG) technology in the world when it introduced its first FFG in 1968.

Berg Industries AB, Stockholm, is the parent company of the wholly-owned subsidiary Emba Holding AB. Emba Holding Group develops, manufactures and markets machinery for converting corrugated board. “The Emba machines are known for extremely high productivity and box quality, thanks to the very short set up times, high speed production and reliable function. The Emba machines are acknowledged for extremely high productivity and box quality due to the outstanding short set up times and high running speeds with consistent and repeatable performance in the entire product range. Offering the market good service through a well-developed range of spare parts, service and training is also an important part of the group’s mission,” says Sastry.

Emba has already completed six installations of its machines in India, Sastry informs. In fact, the sixth installation – a 245 Quick Set Ultima was installed in September 2015 at Worth Peripherals in Indore. Sastry says, “We started our Indian operations in 2005 and met our first success in 2011. Having installed our latest and greatest machine in Indore, we believe we have got a good recognition from the market. However, this is only a start and we hope to sell at least two to three machines a year in India from now on.”

Sastry feels Indian Corrugated Case Manufacturers’ Association (ICCMA) and The Federation of Corrugated Box Manufacturers (FCBM), the two key Indian corrugation associations, are doing a great job. “Emba will be happy to support both of them by participating in their exhibitions where we can meet the entire Indian corrugation industry. We have limited access and our machines are not viable for all but we have the best technology to offer. Automation is in demand now. We are optimistic of doing well in the automatic flexo folder-gluer market in India,” Sastry concludes.
