The Kongsberg V20 on display at Bobst Competence ’15

Esko India showcased its recently launched Kongsberg V series cutting table at the Bobst Competence ’15 event held at the latter’s Pune plant from 26 to 28 February 2015. The agenda was to showcase and promote the Kongsberg V series to carton and corrugation customers and talk about all the different applications it can do such as varnish blanket cutting, carton cutting, kappa board, PP sheets, corrugation up to 7-ply, to name a few.

Recently, Bobst India and Esko India have agreed on a one-year partnership to demonstrate the packaging converting workflow to the Indian market and to utilize Esko’s hardware and software for the Bobst India blanking tooling project.

“Esko and Bobst have been working closely from a long time in India as the two share lot of common customers and complement each other’s products,” said Umesh Kagade, Esko India’s sales account manager, West, adding that Bobst’s decision to start a tooling unit for the blanking dies in India was a reason why they would need Esko’s ArtiosCAD, a diemaking module and a Kongsberg table in-house.

The Kongsberg V20 on display generated a lot of interest among many of Esko’s existing customers. According to Kagade, the visitors were impressed to see the new table, which can meet the demands of both carton as well as corrugation samplemaking.

Explaining in a little more detail about the profile of customers, Kagade said it was a mix of well-established companies, lot of new upcoming companies looking for expansion and many commercial printers who intend to move towards packaging. The Kongsberg V20 has a wide array of applications, which range from using it for innovating new designs, making just a couple of cartons for comparing different designs, cartons for final approvals from a brand manager, to making a couple of hundred cartons for running on folder-gluers to check for the machinability or sending these cartons to be checked on filling machines. “You can imagine the flexibility it gives to a carton converter,” he added.
