Komori at IGAS 2015 had comprehensive solutions for all segments – digital short-run commercial printing, digital packaging and monocartons production. Under its ‘Open a New
Page’ theme at the show it spoke as a supplier of integration and workflow, consumables, offset presses, digital presses and converting equipment. We met Komori president and COO, Satoshi Mochida, who said that Komori is providing a full packaging workflow including equipment and software integration because, “Customers are asking us for diecutters; there is a strong request from customers. Smaller printers have difficulty in implementing new technology such as CIP4.”
Thus Komori sees itself increasingly as a printing engineering service provider according to Mochida. It feels the need to supply and integrate workflow, digital and offset presses, consumables and postpress converting equipment. Mochida explains, “For instance, our more than 600 customers of HUV LED curing require the supply of a standardized ink. And then there is the need for coatings, blankets, dampening concentrates, and ink rollers. Thus, we hope to first service our pioneering HUV curing system press customers and set
up the foundation for the supply chain.”
Mochida revealed that Komori will showitsNS40 Land collaboration digital press at drupa in addition to the Impremia S29 being demonstrated live at IGAS 2015. While Komori makes the transport for Land Nano it has the license from Landa to manufacture the entire press for its own branded product. Sharing Komori’s perspective of the print markets, Mochida said, “The Indian print market is an emerging market that will grow from year to year. While developed markets need automation and more value addition, the Indian market will be mostly sheetfed in the future. We hope that the 40-inch 6-color plus coater with UV curing that we are showing here will impact the Indian packaging market.”
