At the recently concluded PrintPack 2017, Uflex showcased its entire range of holography products. We met Bharpur Singh, senior manager – marketing, at the Uflex stand where he talked in brief about the company’s entire holography range of products on display, including holograms, specialized holographic films, lamination films for digital as well as offset, as well as for gravure technology.
Singh gave details of the registered fresnel lens, which he said was the showstopper at the Uflex stand, generating 70-80% of the inquiries. In the last 7-8 years, there have been very few game-changers in the Indian carton industry. With the coming of the fresnel lens technology, this segment has seen a fresh lease of life. Until now, buyers in India were mostly relying on imports from China, Europe and other places but Uflex changed the scenario by introducing fresnel lens technology to the country. Uflex entered into a collaboration with WaveFront Technology, USA to produce these films. At PrintPack, Singh said that Uflex received many queries from converters as well as end users for fresnel lens.
Fresnel lens films have two main aspects—static and security. The static feature is ideal for cosmetics, perfumes and other luxury products since the 3D lens effect is an eye-catching feature of the product. In terms of security, it has a good application on anti-counterfeiting as the process of making these films is quite tedious, hence making it difficult to replicate. Nowadays, many FMCG and pharmaceutical companies have adopted this technology as an anti-counterfeiting solution.
