International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) are organizing a drawing and video contest on the occasion of World Standards Day. The winner of the competition closing on 30 July 2018 will be awarded 1500 Swiss francs. The winning design will be decided by public voting.

Since 1970, 14 October has been celebrated as World Standards Day to address international standards. Organized collectively by IEC, ISO, and ITU, the day celebrates the collaborative efforts of the thousands of public- and private-sector experts who dedicate their time and expertise to the development of international standards. The day is dedicated to the technologies connecting digital and the real world and the role played by international standards in their development.

In order to participate, the participants are required to use latest technological solutions (robotics, artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, virtual reality, etc.) paired with international standards as a solution to their respective local problems. The competition is inspired by the 2018 World Standards Day theme, ‘International Standards and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.’

The contestants will receive live updates and interactive guidance on the competition’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. The rules and requirements of the competition can be viewed on ISO’s website at https://www.iso.org/news/ref2297.html
