Dow India in top employers' list
Dow has been recognized for incorporating LGBT+ inclusive practices into company policy.

Dow India has been recognized as the Gold Employer in the India Workplace Equality Index (IWEI) 2022 report for the third time in a row, the company said in a statement. Dow has been recognized for incorporating LGBT+ inclusive practices into company policy, recruiting, and external communication. The company has been positioned in the top 30 with eminent brands from 105 other participants.

The India chapter for GLAD Employee Resource Group (ERG) has taken steps in the past few years in embedding LGBTQ+ inclusion at Dow. Some key steps include awareness, sensitization sessions, and collaborations with NGO partners and internally through volunteerism. They are successful in hiring and retaining employees and training them through required skill-building programs, including internships.

Dow India CEO and Country president Chandrakant Nayak iterated, “Dow India is proud of its long-standing inclusive practices; we practice inclusivity and strive to create a diverse, fair environment. We imagined better through our initiatives, policies, and guidelines toward a more meaningful and cohesive work culture. The third consecutive win as Gold Employer in India Workplace Equality Index is a testament to our continuous growth and Dow India becoming synonymous with Inclusion.”

The India Workplace Equality Index (IWEI) is a benchmarking tool for organizations to measure their progress on LGBT+ inclusion. The IWEI follows in the footsteps of Stonewall’s UK WEI. It has been used by employers over the last 15 years to assess their achievements and progress on LGBT+ workplace equality in the UK. The Keshav Suri Foundation, Pride Circle, and Stonewall have been working closely over the last three years to adapt the UK WEI and bring it to life in the Indian context.
