This line is a state-of-the-art facility (8.7 meters wide – the widest line currently available) supplied by Dornier and has an annual capacity of 36,000 metric tones. It is supplemented by a metallising plant which is equipped with in-line plasma treatment for producing high-barrier films.
According to our information, production trials have been successful and trial quantities have already been shipped out to some important clients. Most of their large customers have elaborate qualification and certification procedures, which have been initiated for the new facility with the shipment of these trial consignments.
The Altamira site is being planned as an important production base for both plain and metallised oriented films as well as converted laminates and pouch systems for supply primarily to North and South America, as reported by us earlier.
Egypt Project The next overseas project in Egypt is also proceeding as per schedule. This will start up with the installation of a state-of-the-art multilayer coextruded BOPP film line. Land has already been finalized for this plant and construction is due to start up very soon. The equipment is in the process of being ordered and commercial production is scheduled to commence by the end of March, 2010.
