VS Packaging Industries, a leading packaging solutions provider based in Vadodara, Gujarat, specializes in designing, printing, and manufacturing both inner and outer cartons, for local and international clients. Founded in 2010 by Vaseem Sharfi, the company produces cartons for segments including food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, contraceptives, and consumer goods. “From high-quality consumer packaging to durable shipper cartons, we handle everything in-house to maintain quality at every stage,” says Sharfi.
Recently the company added a CD 102 Heidelberg 6-color UV offset press at the Vadodara plant. Sharfi comments, “This advanced upgrade significantly enhances our production capacity, improves print quality, and allows us to handle more complex designs with greater precision and efficiency.” The integration of UV printing capabilities enables faster drying times and the ability to print on a wider range of substrates.”

The company has also invested in a Zhongke semi-automatic die-punching machine. “This new addition significantly increases our production capacity, providing faster and more precise die-cutting, reducing production time, and minimizing errors. It also offers greater flexibility for a wider variety of packaging designs, improving our ability to meet the diverse needs of our customers.”
Growing corrugated box industry
According to Sharfi, the industry is moving towards sustainability, and corrugated boxes are a suitable packaging solution for many products. As per a report by IMARC, the Indian corrugated box market size reached US$ 7.1 billion in 2023 and is expected to reach US$ 16.9 billion by 2032, with a CAGR of 10.1% from 2024-2032. Referring to the report, he notes, “The growing usage of corrugated in the food and beverage industry for improving safety, thriving eCommerce, and favorable government initiatives are key factors driving this segment.”
The growing demand for corrugated boxes is helped by the rising preference of consumers for online shopping online, increasing consumer preferences for lightweight and innovative packaging materials, and also due to the export restrictions for wooden packaging. Awareness among consumers about the harmful impact of using non-biodegradable packaging materials is strengthening the growth of paperboard. Moreover, the Government of India is encouraging the adoption of corrugated boxes and focusing on recycling and waste reduction.

Sustainability with solar at VS Packaging
VS Packaging has installed a 450kV solar power system at its plant. Sharfi says, “This move not only helps us reduce our dependence on non-renewable energy sources but also lowers energy costs in the long term, contributing to both environmental and economic sustainability.”
Developed by Tata and installed by Euro Premium Solar, Ahmedabad, the 450 kV solar panel installation of 782 meticulously positioned panels covering a substantial area generates approximately 1,800 kWh annually – enough to power between 130 to 150 homes. Each panel equipped with monocrystalline half-cut bifacial technology, optimizes energy conversion efficiency and peak performance.
The company aims to source 50% of its energy from solar power. One of the impacts of this initiative is the substantial reduction in carbon emissions. By shifting to solar energy, the plant expects to decrease its annual carbon footprint by 9,548.23 metric tons equivalent to preserving 11,209.38 acres of forest each year and avoiding the burning of 4,735.36 metric tons of coal, which is akin to planting 158,012 trees. “With the solar panel installation, we aim to stabilize our energy costs. In turn, this will enhance our competitive edge in the packaging market,” says Sharfi.
