Esko showcased its newly launched Kongsberg X 24 cutting table at India Corr Expo 2016. The X series was launched at drupa 2016 and comes with a wide range of specialty tools that offer speed, power and flexibility to automatically handle a wide variety of materials, such as corrugated, folding carton, solid board, foam, coating blankets, wood and a long list of plastics.

“Some of the specific tools for corrugated industry in the new X Series are CorruSpeed for cutting corrugation and perforation wheels. Both these tools will run at full speed of the machine. It is features like these that make the X series ideal for not only short run but also long run jobs,” said Umesh Kagade, channel manager – India, Esko Graphics India Pvt. Ltd.

A new software platform for X 24 has been introduced—i-cut Production Console—which according to Kagade will make the job more productive as one can estimate the cutting time before the job starts. One of the highlights of the X series is that it comes with a starter version so that one can upgrade and add more cutting, creasing and milling tools as the business needs. “Even a small corrugator can expect to have the X series at an attractive investment level. Today, you can buy the X series for corrugation jobs and later if you want to expand into signage and display, you can add requisite tools.”

Another launch at drupa—the Device Manager software—was promoted at IndiaCorr Expo as well. The Device Manager provides job estimation, planning, tracking, rescheduling and more. It also optimizes equipment usage and provides production control. “This extends seamless connectivity between your design department and your shop floor. The Device Manager can also be procured by existing customers as it will soon become compatible with older models,” Kagade said.

Talking about the visitor response at the event, he stated that many small and large corrugation players visited the Esko stall. “We also saw a good number of brand owners. All these players were excited to see how a new product packaging development cycle can be shortened. This we were able to highlight by integrating ArtiosCAD and the Kongsberg table.”
