Vasai-based Duralabel Graphics, a manufacturer of stickers and labels for the chemical, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and security printing industries, installed a Jetsci Kolorsmart+ digital production press from Monotech Systems. Established in 2006, the company started with screen and offset printing and diversified with flexo toward labels and stickers with the establishment of another plant in Vasai. In 2019, it opened a branch in Noida and another in Silvassa in 2023.

Ravi Patnaik, owner of Duralabel Graphics, told Packaging South Asia that the company produces paper labels, stickers, thermal ribbons, barcode ribbons, filmic labels, shrink sleeves, drum labels, multilayer labels, QR code coupons, with a strong focus on security and specialty labels. According to him, there is an increasing demand for short-run labels, especially with a premium look and feel.

The Kolorsmart+ UV Inkjet digital label production press installed at the Duralabel Graphics’ Noida plant has an additional pre-inkjet flexo station with standard UV curing to apply primers, under white or spot colors. Pre-Inkjet flexo stations can be used for priming, coating, or single-color printing along with up to 6 colors (W+CMYK+ Special color). The press utilizes inkjet print head technology from Kyocera and a sophisticated color management system.

The Duralabel’s Noida plant, where the Kolorsmart+ has been installed, also houses a flexo press from Multitec, which has been fruitful so far in the majority of the production. But when the customers demanded short-run jobs, Patnaik had to get a digital machine and the Jetsci press happened to tick all the boxes.

He said, “We are quite satisfied with Monotech Systems‘ after-sales service. I got this particular machine as the majority of the pharma and security printing requires white. This machine comes with additional colors and will be a beneficial asset in providing solutions to customers in the desired quality.”

Patnaik told us that he is in the process of revamping the Noida facility for ease of production and delivery. On adding capacities, he said he is interested in adding a flexo press and will be visiting Labelexpo India scheduled for 14-17 November 2024 to look for suitable options.

Patnaik says the market is very competitive and adding capacities will prove to be beneficial to the company’s growing portfolio of customers and products.
