The Gallus Labelmaster was publicly launched in Labelexpo in Brussels last September. At the show one of the first customers worldwide and the first in India to order the new design was ITW-Wintek Labels with its main plant in Bengaluru and a second plant in Rudrapur in North India. The 12-color plus one diecutting unit Labelmaster 440 with cold foil and rotary screen capabilities has now been installed at the Wintek Bengaluru plant. We happened to be there earlier this month when the testing and commissioning process was still going on. New slitter rewinder inspection machines have also been added to the plant.
The Labelmaster is a totally new platform from Gallus that comes in several modular variants. The print units are generally supplied in pairs. The new technologies incorporated in the wider platform will enable Wintek to be more competitive in all its work since the bigger labels and longer runs can be run more productively on this press. There is also the prospect of further exploring the shrinkwrap label and in-mould label markets.

Wintek now has five label presses in Bengaluru and two in its Rudrapur plant. Many of Wintek’s presses like those of other leading printers are long presses and none of its Gallus presses are less than 9-color plus diecutting. It has a 10-color ECS 340 with diecutting and rotary screen at Bengaluru in addition to an EM280 press with 13-colors (including a gravure unit) plus diecutting. In Rudrapur it has an EM280 12-color press in addition to an EM 280 9-color press.
