In the past month, Avery Dennison, the global materials science and manufacturing company best known in India as a supplier of pressure-sensitive labelstock, has announced two key leadership appointments for its label and packaging materials business in the region. Pankaj Bharadwaj, who has been with Avery Dennison India for the past nine years, most recently as its vice president and general manager for its South Asia labels and packaging business, has been appointed vice president, Marketing, Asia Pacific.Â
He will now work out of Avery Dennison’s business unit in Singapore. A management graduate with a degree in industrial chemistry, Bhardwaj has played an essential role in growing the Indian business and its manufacturing expansion to its fourth plant in the country, a smart factory under construction in Greater Noida.
As the region’s marketing lead for Avery Dennison’s largest business unit, Bhardwaj will be responsible for defining the strategic direction for product portfolios, sustainability, and innovation. He will also identify and drive new growth platforms while fostering collaboration across the industry.Â
Strengthening the region’s voice and positioning India for growth
Saurabh Agarwal will take over the South Asia leadership role as senior director and general manager of Labels and Packaging Materials, South Asia. The company’s statement says these changes sync with India’s growing importance and its resources for Avery Dennison. And also with the company’s intent of strengthening the region’s voice at the APAC level and positioning India for the next phase of growth.
In his new role, Agarwal will be responsible for ensuring that the South Asia LPM business successfully executes its strategy and delivers on its business objectives. According to the company, these include providing strategic and tactical direction to the region and further strengthening Avery Dennison’s position in the industry.
Before joining Avery Dennison, he worked for 14 years at Whirpool Corporation, where he handled diverse responsibilities in finance and management in both India and overseas. Since joining Avery Dennison in March 2017, Agarwal, with his focus and understanding of its business, has led significant transformations in its processes.Â
