B&R’s Innovation Day 2016 conference revolved around the theme “AddingSmart to your Factories,” focussing on solutions for smart machines and smart factories. B&R launched a host of solutions in software and hardware which were well received by the audience. A solution in secure remote maintenance is set to support machine builders and end users alike as no machine will be out-of-reach from the point of view of maintenance and support. A web-based diagnostics tool, System Diagnostic Manager, equips users to use any device without any requirement of specific software. mapp, the revolutionary software technology, promises 67% faster application development that too with a higher quality.

HTML web technology for a platform independent HMI development is going to transform the way automation engineers develop visualization. With the advent of big data, manufacturers are in search of solutions for data connectivity, recording, reporting and analytics. With APROL process control B&R offers a scalable and flexible solution which meets the demands of all the stakeholders of a factory operating in a global market.

“We bring one innovation every day. Innovations are not just new products but also refinements in already available products and processes. We call them silent innovations. This shows our commitment as well as strength to give the value and competitive edge to our customers thereby bringing enormous benefits,” stated  PV Sivaram, managing director of B&R Automation India, in his opening speech.

A congregation of guest speakers from companies like Unilever, Accenture, IMA PG, Alfa Laval, Future Formats gave diverse perspectives on building smarter factories from the viewpoint of end users as well as equipment suppliers. The chief guest was Atul Modi who is a global lead for automation and controls at Unilever. With his keynote speech – Smart factories: A visionary perspective, he addressed the gathering comprising manufacturers, machine builders, integrators and technology providers with insights on trends in manufacturing such as flexibility and sustainability driven by changing consumer demands, key technologies which enable one to achieve a balance and expectations from technology providers.
